2021 Virtual Capital City Marathon

Register for 2021 Virtual Capital City Marathon

We hope you will join in the celebration of a truly community-based event.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and keeping the safety of our runners, volunteers, first responders, and community top of mind, CCMA must host a virtual event again in 2021. We will, however, be celebrating our 40th year by enhancing our virtual run events this May.

The Details

Dates: Run your virtual event and log your results any time between Saturday, May 15, through Monday, May 31, 2021.

Price: $45 per event, except for the Kids' Run, which is free. We have done our best to keep costs low, and hope this will allow you to keep running through these difficult times. You are welcome to register for more than one distance and get a $5 discount on each distance! You can register for any two events for $80 or all three events for $120. Select the Bundle option below and it will walk you through registering for each of the distances you choose to do.

Swag (photos coming soon!):

  • 5 mile participants will receive a bib, medal, a six-foot long finish line ribbon with the 40th Anniversary logo, and short sleeve shirt.
  • Half marathon participants will receive a bib, medal, finish line ribbon, and long sleeve shirt.
  • Full marathon participants will receive a bib, medal, finish line ribbon, lightweight hoodie, and SPIbelt.
  • If you register for multiple events, you will only receive one bib and one finish line ribbon.

Packet Mailing: We will begin mailing packets on May 10 so you’ll have it before you run. Though registration does not close until May 31, if you wish to receive your packet before the last day, you must register by 9 p.m. May 26. Anyone who registers after May 26 will be sent their packet; we just cannot guarantee it will arrive before the end of the virtual event.

Results: You can log your results beginning May 15. A leaderboard will be available so you can see how you stack up! Please note that results are based on an honor system, and we will not be collecting GPS files, Strava maps, etc. Deadline to log your results is 11:59pm on May 31.

Awards: As this is a virtual event without independent verification of results, no age group awards will be offered for the 2021 events. However, we will have some fun awards for you to earn. In the coming weeks, we will let you know how to submit for these awards:

  • Run furthest from the usual CCMA finish line on Capitol Way in Olympia
  • Fastest stroller
  • Best finish line picture
  • Oldest race shirt
  • First to enter their results
  • Best team spirit
  • Cutest companion
  • Oldest participant (available for each distance)
  • Youngest participant (available for each distance)

Donations: Like last year, when you register for the virtual event, you may also donate to the local high athletic programs our event supports. Any amount you choose to donate will be provided directly to local high school cross country teams to support their activities in 2021.
